Emirates Arena to host Uzbekistan's clash with Great Britain

Glasgow’s Emirates Arena will host Uzbekistan's Davis Cup clash against Great Britain when in the World Group play-offs on 14-16 September.

September’s clash, which will take place on a hard court, will be the first meeting between Great Britain and Uzbekistan in Davis Cup history. At stake for the host nation is its place in the World Group, with Britain's five-year stay in the top tier under threat following their first round defeat to Spain in Marbella in February.

Uzbekistan, meanwhile, will be eyeing a landmark upset in September. The Central Asians, led by 31-year-old Denis Istomin, are through to the World Group play-offs for a tenth time in history – but have yet to break through to the top tier of the competition.
