Uzbekistan's Bektemir Melikuziev books a place at the Kazakhstan President’s Cup semi-finals

Uzbekistan’s amateur boxers continued their winning campaign at the sixth edition of the President’s Cup of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Astana on Tuesday.

More than 160 boxers from 15 countries including India, China, Russia, Sweden, Thailand, Turkey, USA, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan are taking part in this tournament.

At the Lightweight, Uzbekistan’s Shunkor Abdurasulov stunned Charli Suarez from the Philippines by unanimous decision win in the quarter-finals as he advanced to the semi-final will be held against Kazakhstan’s Zakir Safiullin.

Makhmud Gaipov eliminated Chinese Maimaititu Ersun·Qiong with a split-decision win in the quarterfinal bout at the Welterweight, while his compatriot Bektemir Melikuziev knocked out Devanshu Jaiswal in the second round of the quarterfinals at the Light Heavyweight.
